- Face a window or lamp so the light falls evenly on your face, with no shadow on one side.
- Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression and both eyes open.
- Take off glasses, hats and headphones.
- Get your whole head and the top of your shoulders in the frame, from about arm's length.

A passport photo is just a photo print. The reason the drugstore counter costs $16.99 is the person who takes it for you — not the paper. A standard 4×6 print costs the same store between 19¢ and 42¢, and six passport photos fit on one 4×6.

How it works

Is this really free?
Yes. You download your photo and the 4x6 print sheet with no watermark, no account and no payment. There is no paid tier hiding behind the download button. Sites like PhotoAiD and Passport Photo Online charge $9.95 to $16.95 for the same files.
Do you upload or keep my photo?
No. Your photo is processed by AI running inside your browser tab — it never leaves your device, so we could not look at it if we wanted to. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool still works. The only exception is if you choose to have your photos emailed to you, which we tell you about at that point.
Will my photo actually be accepted?
We crop to the exact official measurements and check head size, eye height, tilt, eyes open, expression, lighting and resolution. That covers what software can measure. No online tool can promise acceptance, because the final judgement belongs to the office reviewing your application — be wary of any site that guarantees it.
How do I print it for 40 cents?
The 4x6 sheet holds six passport photos at exactly the right size. Order it as a normal 4x6 photo print at Walmart (about 19 cents), Walgreens (39 cents) or CVS (42 cents), then cut them out. The counter service at those same stores costs $7.64 to $16.99 for two photos.
Does the AI change how I look?
No, and that matters: the State Department rejects photos altered by AI, filters or retouching. We only adjust overall brightness, colour balance and sharpness — the same corrections a photo lab applies — and replace the background. Your face is never edited, smoothed or reshaped.
What if I do not have a plain background?
That is fine. The tool separates you from whatever is behind you and puts you on the plain white background the rules require. A plain wall still gives cleaner edges around hair, so use one if you have one.
